Jocelyn Laux, a 2016 right handed outfielder/1B in her 2nd season with San Diego Renegades-Stern 18U Gold, has accepted a scholarship offer and committed to Oklahoma Wesleyan University, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma as a student/athlete. Jocelyn plans to major in Psychology, specializing in early childhood development. Jocelyn has always possessed a very strong bat, hitting close to 20 homeruns over her travel ball and high school career so far. In the past couple of years though, she has made a concerted effort to improve her outfield defensive skills, and it was her strong defensive showing at a showcase in Reno, Nevada, that caught the attention of Coach Caty Reeves at OKWU. It took less than a week for Coach Reeves to contact Jocelyn and give her an opportunity to play for the Lady Eagles. Jocelyn has been an 3 year honor roll student, and 4 year starter on Clairemont High School’s varsity softball team, helping the school win their first CIF championship in 30 years. As a Sophomore, with her team down by a run and down to their last out in the CIF playoffs, she drilled a 2 out, RBI double in the bottom of the 7th, on an 0-2 count that tied the game, and forced extra innings in a playoff win that propelled Clairemont to the CIF championship, and remains one of the biggest hits in Clairemont history. Jocelyn is very excited to continue her education while playing the game she loves, and always says the trust and confidence she has received from Coach Jon, Coach Randy, and the entire Renegades family is, and will always be, one of her strongest tools as she moves on to the collegiate level.
