San Diego Renegades Women's Team
Information: Contact Adam Mena INTRODUCTION: Mission Statement: In 2002, the San Diego Renegades organization decided to form a Woman's team to satisfy the need of Renegades college athletes and older women who still wished to continue their softball careers or wanted to stay sharp during the summer months while away from College. Our organizational philosophy is based on teaching skills, fundamentals and providing guidance to help all our players obtain College scholarships. Though many of our Woman players are still eligible for 18U Junior Olympic ball, having them return to our 18U teams after they are already in college would defeat that philosophy and prevent those younger players in the J.O. program from being seen by college scouts. By fielding a Woman's team the organization is providing a place for our young woman and yet still allow us to keep our goals intact. In addition, many of the women players have just completed a grueling college schedule and do not want to spend their entire summer traveling around on a J.O. grueling travel schedule. By playing in our women's program, the player can have some rest, take a family vacation, work, or take a summer class. The Woman's team is entered in the Socal ASA Women's Open Summer League in Riverside, California. The team joins 14 other women's open teams in playing double headers on four different weekends, (Saturdays and Sundays). In addition, the team will play one Women's Open tournament in the month of July. The complete schedule is posted on this web page. The direction, goals, and ownership of this team are formulated by the players themselves. The team can play additional games or tournaments and attend Women's ASA National if they choose. The players on the team come from various colleges including Temple, St Johns, Cal, LB State, and U.C. Riverside to name a few. A team roster is also available on this web page. The players also come from various travel teams and all have experience at the highest level. For more information or if you wish to inquire about playing for this team, call: Doug Hartung San Diego Renegades SCHEDULES Information: The ASA summer league consists of double headers on Saturdays and Sundays over a four weekend schedule with one tournament in between. There are a total of 16 teams entered. All girls need to be at the field 1.5 hrs. before game time.
