Academy of Arts University
Briana Williams, a big-time pitcher from Mt Carmel High School has verbally committed to the Academy of Art University, the Urban Knights of the PacWest Conference, located in San Francisco. Briana was being highly recruited from other softball programs, but she knew from early on this was where she wanted to play. Briana is one of the inaugural members of the Renegades (Portugal / Peronto ) team having been with the team since its inception at 12U. She has developed into one of the strongest pitcher’s in the San Diego County and will make a definite impact for the Knights. Briana is a very versatile athlete that can also play the infield or outfield. She is a great hitter with tremendous speed. Briana began getting noticed at the 2008 16U Nationals in Kentucky, and then blossomed and performed exceptionally at the 18U 2009/2010 Colorado Fireworks Tournament the last couple of years. The Knights are not only getting a great softball player they’re getting the type of player that brings a smile to everyone’s face. North Dakota State University
Amanda Grable, a big-hitting junior catcher from Santana High School has verbally committed to North Dakota State, where she'll be joining several former Renegades. She's a smart and very versatile infielder who can play both corner spots as well as catcher. In both high school and travel ball, she's proven to be one of the most potent offensive players in San Diego county. She was first noticed by NDSU at the 18U Colorado Fireworks Tournament where they seem to be at every game, but at 16U Nationals after having a fantastic tournament NDSU knew she was the impact player they really needed. NDSU head coach Darren Mueller then got another good look at Amanda when Whitney Johnson joined the team for the fall season and the two of them were a great combination. On her unofficial visit, Amanda loved the players, the coaching staff, and the small mid-western town atmosphere. She knew she had found a home. NDSU is getting the type of person that you love to be around on and off the softball field. She will do great things. Congratulations, Amanda.

University of MissouriAngie Randazzo, an outstanding junior Catcher, 3B from Poway High School has verbally committed to play at University of Missouri, a perennial softball power in the strong Big 12 conference. She was being highly recruited from other strong softball programs which made this decision very difficult, but after her trip to Missouri where she was so impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities, coaching staff and fellow players, she knew Missouri was where she wanted to play. Angie has been with the Renegades since she was 13. She has always been a team leader in regards to batting average and slugging percentage. She is a natural born leader with great athletic ability. She was first noticed by Missouri at 16U Nationals in 2008, but they really took notice at the 18U 2009 Colorado Fireworks tournament where it seemed like at every at bat Missouri was watching she was hitting a home run. Angie continued this success right into 16U Nationals in Sioux Falls and has never looked back. She is a great hitter with outstanding defensive skills as a catcher and 3rd baseman. Missouri is not only getting a great ball player with a personality to match, but the type of person you want to build a team around. She will do great things on and off the field. Congratulations Angie!

University of San DiegoMorgan Kurtz, a junior outfielder from Granite Hills High School has verbally committed to play at University of San Diego. She loves the coaches, players and campus and considers this a dream come true. Morgan is one of the inaugural members of the Portugal/Peronto Renegade team and has been the team's mainstay in centerfield since the team formed as a 14U ballclub. Because of her quickness and ability to anticipate she can cover a large amount of the outfield. Morgan is an excellent slapper and with her speed is always a threat to steal. Morgan began getting noticed at the 2008 16U Nationals in Kentucky, and then blossomed and performed exceptionally at the 18U 2009 Colorado Fireworks Tournament where the team finished third. She continued to play at a very high level through 16U Nationals in Sioux Falls. USD is not only getting a great player, but even a better person. Her work ethic and attitude will take her a long way. Congratulations Morgan!

North Dakota State UniversityWhitney Johnson, a 2010 standout pitcher from Welcome Memorial High School in Minnesota, has joined the San Diego Renegades organization. As one of the top pitchers in Minnesota, Whitney has verbally committed to play softball at North Dakota State University. They began watching her with Team Minnesota Irish. In high school, she averaged over 16 strikeouts per 7 inning game and is definitely a presence on the mound. She has always dreamed of playing Division I softball and has been working toward this goal since the 7th grade. NDSU is definitely getting an impact player with a great attitude and work ethic. She is an excellent and welcomed addition to the Renegade Family.
